Andrew Grad Returns to Texas Bowl With Minnesota

Tinley Park native Marek Lenkiewicz will play in his 2nd consecutive Texas Bowl this week, as the Golden Gophers face Syracuse. We've got the details.

Andrew High School grad and Tinley Park native Marek Lenkiewicz will play in the second college bowl game of his career when Minnesota hits the field this week in Houston for the Texas Bowl.

The Golden Gophers (8-4) will face Syracuse (6-6) at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27. This is Minnesota's second consecutive appearance in the Texas Bowl. Last year, the Gophers lost to Texas Tech, 34-31, on a 28-yard field goal as time expired.

Lenkiewicz, a redshirt junior, is an offensive lineman for the Gophers and played in five games this season. He last played in Minnesota's Nov. 23 loss to Wisconsin, 20-7.

A 2010 graduate, Lenkiewicz, 21, was named Offensive Player of the Year for the Southwest Suburban League Red Conference in his senior year. He's currently a business and marketing education major at Minnesota.
