Superintendent: Taxes Reassessed after EAV Drop

Bremen Schools Superintendent Bill Kendall says a 1.4 percent tax increase didn't happen because of actions taken by the district.

Superintendent Bill Kendall talked about an increase in the property taxes for Bremen School District at a recent school board meeting. “It’s important to note that this increase is not because of action taken by ," Kendall said. "Some of our residents have seen increases because assessments occur every three years and this is the year for that reassessment.” The 1.4 percent increase comes after the Cook County Assessor's office reassessed the equalized assessed value for property in the district and say a more than 16 percent drop, leading to a higher burden on property owners.
