Still Mum on Former OFHS Principal's Reassignment, District 228 Board Names Replacement

After an in-depth interview process, board members Tuesday, June 7, decided to stay in-district with its choice.

District 228 administrators are still tight-lipped about the , but they're moving forward with a face new to the school, and older to the district.

Board members approved the appointment of Bremen High School Assistant Principal Brad Sikora to the OFHS principal role at the June 7 meeting. Sikora was interviewed and chosen by a committee of 40 comprised of teachers, OFHS students, and community members and OFHS administrators. He was chosen for his "student-centered" philosophy, said Superintendent Dr. Bill Kendall.

"His energy, his student-centered energy," Kendall told Patch. "People were excited about his passion for students."

Sikora officially begins his role July 1.

"I'm looking forward to a great opportunity," Sikora told Patch. "I'm going to be very student-centered, focused on a collaborative effort with the stakeholders.

"I think they'll feel that right away."

Sikora received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he majored in social studies education and minored in Spanish education.  Mr. Sikora earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Governor’s State University and a second Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University. He is currently working on a Doctorate of Education in Ethical Leadership from Olivet Nazarene University, according to a press release from the district.

Mr. Sikora began his career in education in 1999 as a social studies teacher and a career specialist at Crete-Monee High School.  In 2002, Mr. Sikora moved to Lincoln-Way Central High School and held the same positions.  In 2005, he began teaching social studies in Bremen District 228 at Hillcrest High School.  Mr. Sikora then moved to Oak Forest High School in 2007 where he taught Spanish and served as the World Languages District Supervisor.  In 2008, Mr. Sikora was selected to serve at Bremen High School as Assistant Principal for Activities.

No Further News on Wilson's Reassignment

Kendall cannot disclose any further information on the administrative leave and reassignment of Dr. David Wilson. The situation is ongoing, he said, and things are still the same, and it's still a personnel issue.

Wilson was placed on paid leave through the end of the school year, and will stay on Bremen High School District 228 payroll as a social worker for Hillcrest High School next school year.

As reported by Patch Thursday, April 28, Wilson was placed on paid administrative leave by district administration after a weeklong investigation, from April 21 through April 28.
