St. Damian Celebrates Catholic Schools Week with Ballet

The 'As We Pray' performance by a Frankfort-based company depicted faith.

In celebration of National Catholic Schools week January 26 through February 1, St. Damian School honored the theme of Catholic Schools; Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service in a variety of ways.

As part of the school’s pledge to offer 40 service projects and 40 hours of prayer, St. Damian hosted a contemporary ballet performance for students and families titled As We Pray. This ballet was performed by Ballet 5:8, a Christian professional ballet company, and ballet school, from Frankfort.

This powerful performance lasted about 45 minutes, and took the audience on a journey through the Lord’s Prayer. The Ballet 5:8 dancers graciously took time after the performance to pose for pictures and answer questions. This event was well-received by students and families, and gave students an opportunity to experience the expression of faith through the arts.
