Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: Warren scooped up second place in the local Knights of Columbus spelling bee. His last word was a "trick question" — he was asked to spell the word "desirable." Unfortunately, Warren threw an extra 'e' in after the 'r.' "Sometimes, it's just a slip of the tongue that does you in," Warren said. He will continue on to the regional bee.

"It's a torch that's passed down," Warren said. "It's almost sort of a niche that's implanted." Warren gave his spelling bees his first shot two years ago, when he lost to his own brother.Occasionally the older brother will now rattle off random words to Warren, putting him on the spot to spell. Other times, Warren picks up a dictionary to brush up before a bee.
