Cold Closings: What's Canceled in Oak Forest on Tuesday

The threat of below-zero temperatures and wind chills has schools in Oak Forest and around the south suburbs closing again for a second time this year. 

The National Weather Service has a wind chill warning on the area set from 3 a.m. Monday until 9 a.m. Wednesday, with wind chills expected to be between 30 and 45 degrees below zero.

The extreme cold will follow snowfall and strong winds Sunday night that could leave about another inch of snow on the ground, with winds gusting up to 45 mph.

Driving is expected to be extremely treacherous the next two days, with the cold and blowing snow leading to frozen roads and hampered visibility at times, especially in less developed areas.

Oak Forest Park District

The following district classes and activities are canceled Tuesday, Jan. 28:
  • Funtime Preschool
  • Little Tykes Preschool
  • Dance, Ballet/Tap Combo and Ballet
  • Tumbling and Cheer Team Minis

Acorn Public Library


The library will open at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28.
