Register to Vote in Oak Forest

The deadline to register to vote in the March primary election is Feb. 21. Find out what you need to register and where you can do it locally.

As the March primary election nears, make sure you're registered to vote. The deadline to register to vote in the March 20 primary is Tuesday, Feb. 21.

Register at , Monday through Friday during normal business hours. You'll need to bring two types of identification: a driver's license or picture ID and an additional item such as a lease or utility bill. Make sure at least one form of ID lists your current address.

So, where can you register? At Oak Forest , and also at the Cook County Clerk's office, Clerk's office, 69 W. Washington St., fifth floor in Chicago.

To receive a voter registration application, individuals living in suburban Cook County can print an application form by visiting the Cook County Clerk's website. 

Who can register?

To register you must be a U.S. citizen, be 18 years old by election day and a resident of your precinct for at least 30 days prior to the election. Registration applications for suburban Cook County can be printed in English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean and Polish.

And when is voting again?

Early voting is scheduled for Monday, February 27 through Thursday, March 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at City Hall. Registered voters do not need a reason to vote early. Election Day is Tuesday, March 20.

Voters who miss the regular registration deadline will still be able to vote if they register during the 14-day grace period. Grace-period registration runs from Feb. 22 through March 13. Grace-period voters must vote in person at the Clerk's office immediately after signing up to vote. Grace-period registrants are not allowed to vote by mail, at the polls on Election Day, or at any Early Voting site. 

DID YOU KNOW...

As of today, there are 1,385,935 registered voters in suburban Cook County, according to a release from the clerk's office.

"The number of suburban Cook County voters is comparable to the 2008 Presidential Primary Election, but about 50,000 less than the 2008 Presidential General Election," Orr said, in the release. "While we haven't seen much registration activity, we anticipate a rush of registrations in the summer and fall prior to the November 6 election."
