Register to Vote by Oct. 9

Here's a list of easy ways to make sure your voice is heard on election day.

There are just two weeks left to register to vote in the November election. Registration officially ends Oct. 9, but fear not if you've procrastinated.

To help ensure you're set for the polls, Patch compiled a list of easy ways to get ready for election day.

If you're in Cook County, start by checking the County Clerk’s website to see if you’re already registered to vote at your current address.

Not registered? There are several easy ways to make it happen:

  • Online: The Illinois Board of Elections offers an online application. You need to have either a printer or an email address to register this way.
  • By mail: Download this form from the Cook County Clerk’s office and send it in by Oct. 9.
  • In person: Register at city hall during regular business hours. Make sure to bring two forms of identification, including at least one with your current address.
  • Make it a party: Find a voter registration event near you by searching the National Voter Registration Day database.
