Oak Forest Road Construction Update: 159th Street Resurfacing

Construction season is upon us, which means the possible return of the three Ds: delays, detours and disturbances.

But it doesn't have to be that bad if you plan ahead. That's why Patch, along with the City of Oak Forest, will keep you updated on where and when roadwork will be happening and what you should expect. We've even mapped out the areas for you.

159th Street Resurfacing

What is it: The Illinois Department of Transportation will be resurfacing a 2.3-mile stretch of 159th Street, from Cicero Avenue in Oak Forest to Western Avenue in Markham. The roadwork will cause temporary lane closures along that route.

When it begins: Work will start Monday, July 8, weather permitting.

When it's scheduled to end: Aug. 10

What roads to avoid: Along with the intersections at Cicero and Western, the construction will crossover with Pulaski Road, I-57, Kedzie Avenue and I-294.
