A New Direction for the Oak Forest Fleadh Parade

Plans are already under way for next year's Oak Forest Fleadh on March 10.

Next year’s Oak Forest Fleadh will be headed in a different direction. Literally.

“We decided to change things up by reversing the course of the parade,” said Chrissy Maher, public relations coordinator for Oak Forest. “We thought it would work better if we went down Cicero Avenue from 157th Street to 151st Street.”

Next year’s festival – a partnership between – will take place on March 10 on Cicero Avenue between 159th and 151st streets.

“We’re hoping for a bigger and better festival,” said Maher. “We encourage residents to attend and enjoy the day. There’s something for everyone from little kids to seniors.”

Events will include the parade, an open bike ride, a 5K race and a pub/restaurant open house.

“The 5K race has doubled in size,” Maher said. “And the restaurant open house has always been very popular.”

Registration has already started for the 5K race and to be in the parade.

“We had 80 entries in last year’s parade,” Maher said.
