Gingrich Rips Rush Over Trayvon Hoodie Tribute

The former Speaker of the House is criticizing Rep. Bobby Rush for not doing enough to deal with the brazen violence shown throughout our district.

A symbolic gesture by Rep. Bobby Rush (1st. District) meant to memorialize the death of Florida teen Trayvon Martin in Congress last year is once again the source of controversy.

"You have a Congressman whose own district is bleeding, who puts on a hoodie as a symbolic act but he doesn't do anything about the gangs in his own district," Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said during a CNN interview.

"That's a charge ... that doesn't hold water," Rush retorted. "I have been working relentlessly, since I've been in Congress ... trying to deal with this violence."
