City Hopes to Smooth Over 'Worst' Streets

Did your street make the list of those needing the most work?

The city hopes to use revenue from its 2011 Motor Fuel Tax to pave 12,000 feet of Oak Forest's roughest roads.

With $920,000 set aside for engineering and construction, the city warns that as cost estimates come in from engineering firm Baxter and Woodman, some streets might be eliminated from the list.

"With the volatility in the oil market, we are not sure where prices will land," wrote Director of Public Works Troy Ishler, in a memo to City Council. Staff used information from past years to develop this year's list, he wrote.
