City Hopes to Replant Ash Trees within One Year

The City of Oak Forest is uprooting any ash trees infested with Emerald Ash Borer—but plans to replace the trees within one year of their removal by the Public Works Department.

Don't worry, Oak Forest residents—the ash trees will make a comeback.

City officials hope to replace ash trees that have been removed within a year. However, the replacement will depend on available funding. The city is currently pursuing grant opportunities to fund the replacement.

Several months ago, the Public Works Department The trees are marked with pink dots and are scheduled to be removed in the next 12 months. The city is removing dead and dying ash trees from the parkways in order to manage its urban forest.  If your tree is marked with a pink dot, please remove any plantings, edging or landscape blocks that surround the tree.
