City Appoints New Hearings Officer

New hearings officer replaces David Baitman, a local attorney who was accused in September of sexually assaulting a woman.

The has replaced its hearings officer, a role which oversees administrative hearings involving traffic violations and other local ordinances.

John "Jack" Weimar was appointed by aldermen Tuesday, Nov. 8, to fill the position vacated when former public hearing officer .

Weimar was one of four who applied for the job opening, which the city posted on its website.

Weimar stood out, said Chief Greg Anderson, particularly his demeanor. 

"I think this is a great selection for us," Anderson told the aldermen.

Weimar has served as hearings officer in Orland Park, Alsip, Hometown and Worth. He is currently a municipal officer for Alsip.
