Weather Service: Temperatures Expected to Hit the Triple Digits

The City of Oak Forest advises residents to avoid strenuous activity and stay inside when possible.

Triple-digit temperature are possible this week and City of Oak Forest officials are advising people to be careful.

The National Weather Service predicts Thursday to have a high near 100 with a heat index up to 106.

Officials says to avoid strenuous activities and stay indoors when possible. For those who need to be outside, they should wear lightweight and light-colored clothing and hats.

The elderly and those with chronic illnesses should be checked on. Those concerned about someone they can't contact should call City Hall at 708-687-4050 or the police non-emergency number at 708-687-137.

, 15440 S. Central Avenue, is available as a cooling center during business hours — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m, Monday through Friday. Consideration will be given to extending operational hours as needed.
