Two Candidates for 6th Ward Alderman Kicked Off Ballot

Following the challenge of several candidate submission forms by another candidate, 6th Ward Alderman Peter Muscarella and challenger Greg Simos were removed from the April 9 ballot Jan. 7, by the Oak Forest Electoral Board.

Signatures sheets without page numbers and invalid signatures got two candidates for 6th Ward alderman kicked off the ballot Jan. 7. 

Alderman Peter Muscarella and challenger Greg Simos were removed from the April 9 ballot Jan. 7, following a special meeting of the Oak Forest Electoral Board.

Sixth Ward candidate James Hortsman filed challenges to both candidates' paperwork, noting the missing numbers and alleged invalid signatures, in addition to Simos' failure to submit an economic statement to the county—a legal requirement for candidacy.

“Based upon those findings that were presented, the electoral boardunfortunately had to take Mr. Muscarella and Mr. Simos off the ballot,” said City Clerk Scott Burkhardt.

The removal of Muscarella and Simos from the ballot leaves the 6th Ward with only two candidates on the ballot: Hortsman and Ken Barry.
