Woman Spots Intruder Who Escapes With Purse, Pills: Police

A burglar reportedly took off with $50 in cash, more than $100 in gift cards and a variety of prescription painkillers and anti-anxiety medication, according to Oak Forest police.

An Oak Forest woman awoke to see an intruder in her apartment who allegedly stole a purse and prescription medications before fleeing, according to a police report.

At around 2:40 a.m. Dec. 30, a woman in the 5700 block of Independence Avenue woke up in her bedroom to see a man wearing a dark, puffy coat with a fur-lined hood in her hallway, the Oak Forest police report stated. When she called to the intruder, he fled through the apartment door, the report added.

The woman looked for the intruder from an apartment window but couldn't see which direction he ran, the report stated.

After calling police, the woman noticed that a black zippered purse that was by the side of her bed was missing, the report stated. The purse included $50 in cash, more than $100 in various gift cards and a bottle of 15 prescription Norco pills, a narcotic analgesic painkiller.

She also reported to police that her pill organizer, which contained a week's worth of anti-anxiety and other prescription medications, was missing.
