Gold Chain Goes Missing
Police were notified by a resident in the 5900 block of Stuart lane that sometime between Nov. 26 and Dec. 4, an unknown suspect(s) stole a gold chain from their bedroom at their residence.
The victim told officer that they had about eight friends at their home during that time frame and that anyone of them could have removed the chain from the home, which was replaced by a fake gold chain.
Officers told the victim they would show the victim pawn shop receipts in the hopes the item would turn up.
The victim submitted a picture of themselves wearing the chain as evidence to officers.
MONDAY, DEC. 3
Thirsty Thief at Food 4 Less
Police were called to Food 4 Less, 5556 159th Street, in regards to a theft at the store. At the store, police spoke with the store manager, who told officers that a Hispanic male entered the store and placed several cases of Busch Beer and bottles of Jose Cuervo tequila into his shopping cart, and then exited the store without paying. The manager said the items totaled $295.71.
The manager said the suspect then placed the items in a waiting car in the parking lot, and then drove off in an unknown direction.
The store has security footage of the incident, which the manager said would be given to police as soon as possible.
SUNDAY, DEC. 2
Car Scratched Overnight
Police responded to a call of criminal damage to property in the 16800 block of Laramie Avenue, after a resident called police to report damage to their car.
At the scene, police spoke with the victim, who told officers that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect(s) scratched almost the entire length of the driver's side paneling of their car with an unknown object. The victim said they parked their car across the street from their residence overnight, when the incident occurred.
Damage to Mirror Is Closer than It Appears
A resident in the 15600 block of Long Avenue called police after noticing damage to their car. At the scene, police spoke with the victim, who said their car was parked in the street during the afternoon and evening hours.
When the victim returned to their car, they noticed that the driver's side mirror had been broken off and that a white substance, possibly White Out, was was on the rear quarter panel of the car as well.
There are no suspects at this time, although the victim said if one was found they would like to press charges.
STURDAY, DEC. 1
Fur, Tools Taken From Car
Police were called to a residence in the 15400 block of Kenton Avenue, after a resident reported a burglary to their vehicle.
At the home, police spoke with the victim, who said that sometime between 9:30 p.m. Nov. 30, and 8:51 a.m, Dec. 1, an unknown suspect(s) entered their truck through the rear window and removed tools, a black tool box and a fur coat. The victim said the suspect(s) also damaged the frame of the window.
The victim said the approximate cost to replace all of the missing items was about $4,000.
FRIDAY, NOV. 30
Apartment Master Keys Stolen from Car
Police were called to the 6900 block of Westview Driver after a resident reported their car being broken into.
At the scene, police spoke with the victim, who told officers that sometime overnight an unknown suspect(s) entered the vehicle by shattering the front passenger's window and removed a GPS device, a briefcase containing 100 keys to various apartments in Lombard and Carol Stream, and keys to the Rustic Oak Apartments in Oak Forest, along with $20 in change.
Police noted the suspect(s) used a pry tool to shatter the window, which also left dents and other damage to the door.
The items taken were valued at about $800 by the victim.
