South Suburban DUI Arrests, May 19

The National Transportation Safety Board is recommending the DUI alcohol limit be lowered to 0.05 ... not that it would do any good for the people on this week's list of Southland DUIs.

 

NEW LENOX

May 9: Alejandro Aguillon, 22, of the 100 block of Branchaw Boulevard, New Lenox, was charged with driving under the influence, making an improper turn and speeding, according to a report. Police stopped Aguillon at about 2:13 a.m. near the intersection of Cedar Road and Terry Ellen Lane. Aguillon was allegedly found under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and released after posting bond.

ORLAND PARK

April 24: Brian J. Windt, 38, of the 15600 block of Larkspun Lane, Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08 and speeding, according to a report. Windt was on his way home at about 1:20 a.m. from drinking at the House of Blues when he was spotted by police traveling 57mph in a 40mph zone in the 8400 block of 151st Street. During a traffic stop, police reported smelling an odor of alcohol coming from the driver’s breath. He was asked to perform field sobriety tests, which he allegedly failed. While under arrest, Windt took a breath test for his blood-alcohol content. He is due on June 13 in Bridgeview court.

HOMEWOOD

May 9: Byron Okeke, 24, of the 18400 block of Poplar Court, Homewood, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.08, failing to signal when required and illegally transporting alcohol, according to a report. Police stopped Okeke at about 3:24 p.m. in the 1700 block of Willow Road. An officer noticed the driver had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. Police also noticed a Crown Royal bottle on the floor of the car.

FRANKFORT

May 11: Herald Dean Gerdez, 59, of the 23000 block of South Pine Valley Drive, Frankfort, was charged with driving under the influence, improper lane use, improper lighting and driving without insurance, according to a report. Police stopped Gerdez at about 9:55 p.m. near the intersection of 108th Avenue and Lincoln Highway. He is due on June 5 in Will County court.

May 11: Kevin Kerrigan, 27, of the 23200 block of South 104th Avenue, Frankfort, was charged with driving under the influence, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, driving without insurance, speeding and improper lane use, according to a report. Kerrigan was stopped at about 9:50 p.m. near the intersection of Folkers Drive and Old Frankfort Way. He is due on June 5 in Will County court.

TINLEY PARK

May 11: Michael H. Young, 28, of the 7400 block of Tiffany Drive in Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and DUI with a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.08, according to a report.

Police spotted a car at about 2:04 a.m. disobey a “Do Not Enter” sign and strike a curb while backing up in the 17300 block of Oak Park Avenue. The driver, Young, was arrested after he performed field sobriety tests.

While in custody at the Tinley Park Police Department, Young took a breath test for his blood-alcohol content.
