South Suburban DUI Arrests, March 31

ORLAND PARK

March 11: Jason P. Poplawsky, 31, of the 8500 block of 102nd Terrace in Palos Hills, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, improper lane use, driving without insurance and driving without a license on his person, according to a report. He was stopped by police at about 1:59 a.m. near 14100 LaGrange Rd. for speeding and crossing the road lines. Police could smell an odor of alcohol coming from the car. Poplawsky admitted to having three drinks in an hour. He reportedly failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. He was due in Bridgeview court March 29.

March 3: Perry A. Green, III, 33, of the 8100 block of Crandon Avenue in Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence, driving without insurance and speeding, according to a report. Green was stopped at about 3:17 a.m. near 8400 159th St. for traveling 52mph in a 32mph zone. Police reported smelling a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. They also found a mostly empty beer bottle. Green reportedly failed field sobriety tests and, later, took a breath test. He is due in Bridgeview court on March 29.

March 2: Theresa M. Przybtek, 39, of the 14600 block of Poplar Road in Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, endangering the life of a child, driving too fast for conditions, driving without a valid license and driving without insurance, according to a report. Przybtek was involved in a one-vehicle crash at about 4:41 a.m. near 8100 W. 143rd St. Police spoke with Przybtek, who was bleeding from the her nose, at a nearby convenience store. She reportedly told police she had left her two children home alone. Police were sent to check on the children. She was taken to Palos Community Hospital for treatment.

Feb. 27: Robert R. Rodriguez, 20, of the 11000 block of Mason Avenue in Chicago Ridge, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, disobeying a traffic control device, driving without insurance and failing to signal when required, according to a report. Police had followed Rodriguez at about 5:44 p.m. from the Orland Square Mall after receiving a call about someone who was intoxicated. He was stopped after police saw him drive through a stop sign. An officer reported smelling an odor of alcohol while talking with Rodriguez. He was arrested after performing field sobriety tests. Later, he took a breath test. Rodriguez was due in Bridgeview court on March 14.

TINLEY PARK

March 23: Benjamin Lee Anderson, 34, of the 1500 block of South Cherry Creek Lane in Warsaw, IN, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08 and driving without insurance, according to a report. Police were called at about 3:47 a.m. to the 6600 block of 175th Street by someone claiming a Buick was parked in his front lawn. The same person called back a short time later to say the car was driving away and that he was following. Police caught up to the Buick, driven by Anderson, on 175th Street, according to the report. Anderson told police he thought he was in “East Chicago or somewhere east of there” and had drunken “about 10 beers” and “a couple shots, too” over the last several hours. He took field sobriety tests and was arrested. He later took at breath test, the report stated. Anderson is due in Bridgeview court on May 10.

OAK FOREST

March 23: Pamela A. Stewart-Myles, 53, of the 100 block of Dogwood in Park Forest, was charged with driving under the influence and improper lane use, according to a report. Police saw a Silver Ford Escape at about 10:55 a.m. swerving in the 16700 block of Cicero Avenue. An officer reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath. She was asked to perform field sobriety tests, after which she was arrested.

HOMEWOOD

March 23: Aaron Ruddy, 27, of the 1600 block of Marlboro in Crest Hill, was charged with driving under the influence, leaving the scene of a crash, failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash and driving without insurance, according to a report. Ruddy was involved in a rear-end crash at about 3:58 a.m. at the intersection of 183rd Street and Kedzie Avenue. Police said he had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. Ruddy failed field sobriety tests and refused to take a breath test. He is due in Markham court on April 23.

March 19: Jaime Sanchez, 21, of the 14200 block of Pennsylvania in Dolton, was charged with driving under the influence, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, driving without a valid license and improper lane use, according to a report. Sanchez was stopped at about 3:04 a.m. near 18147 Harwood Ave. for driving at an "extremely slow rate of speed." Police said the driver had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, failed field sobriety tests and submitted to a breath test. He is due in Markham court on May 8.

PALOS HEIGHTS

March 23: David M. Kueltzo, 25, of the 13700 block of South Lamon in Crestwood, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding, according to a report. Kueltzo was stopped at about 2:09 a.m. near 13300 S. Ridgeland Ave. An investigation determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol. He is due in court on April 25.

PALOS HILLS

March 23: Erik M. Green, 21, of Palos Hills, was charged with driving under the influence and other traffic offenses, according to a report. He was arrested at about 4 a.m. in the 7800 block of 103rd Street.

FRANKFORT

March 24: Ronald R. Torres, 31, of the 2300 block of Sunnydale Drive in Woodridge, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, driving off the roadway and making an improper left turn, according to a report. Torres was stopped at about 9:17 p.m. near the intersection of LaGrange Road and Lincoln Way Lane. He is due in court April 5.
