South Suburban DUI Arrests, Aug. 18

This week's big list of Southland DUI arrests.

FRANKFORT

Aug. 3: Matthew Sienkowski, 23, of the 17100 block of Teakwood, Tinley Park, was charged with driving under the influence, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08 and improper lane use, according to a Frankfort police report. He was arrested at about 2:05 a.m. near the intersection of Heritage Drive and Laraway Road. Sienkowski was released after posting bond and is due on Sept. 6 in Will County court.

PALOS HEIGHTS

Aug. 12: Thomas F. Holik, 29, of the 8100 block of West Marion Drive, Justice, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol greater than 0.08 and speeding, according to a Palos Heights police report.

Officers stopped a vehicle for speeding at about 12:12 a.m. in the 12200 block of South Harlem Avenue. A cop who spoke with Holik learned he had been drinking. Holik was arrested after performing tests for intoxication. 

He is due on Sept. 5 in Bridgeview court.


Aug. 7: Shawn J. Fuller, 35, of the 14900 block of South Lawndale, Midlothian, was charged with driving under the influence, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, making an improper U-turn, improper lane use and speeding, according to a report. 

Fuller was stopped after officers witnessed him make moving violations, police said. He reportedly showed signs of intoxication and was arrested after taking field sobriety tests. He also took a breath test. 

Fuller is due on Sept. 13 in Bridgeview court.


ORLAND PARK


July 28: Chris G. Kurtz, 22, of the 9600 block of Pulaski Avenue, Evergreen Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, speeding and improper lane use, according to an Orland Park police report.


Police spotted a silver Honda Accord at about 2:21 a.m. swerving in its lane on Harlem Avenue, the report states. The officer pursued and caught up to the driver, who accelerated to faster than 70 mph in a 40 mph zone. Police stopped the car in the 14100 block of Harlem Avenue.


There was a strong odor of alcohol coming from the car, the report states. The driver, Kurtz, told police he had a couple of drinks that night. He submitted to tests for intoxication and a breath test. Kurtz was arrested and booked.


July 27: Ryan A. Flores, 29, of the 9800 block of Corboda Court, Orland Park, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence for a previous conviction, driving under the influence, disobeying a stop sign, improper lane use and driving with a suspended license, according to a report.


A cop saw a driver slam on the brakes and his car skid past as stop sign at about 10:19 p.m. in the 15600 block of West Avenue, the report states. The driver, Flores, then tried to make a turn but hit the median barrier instead. He stopped in a nearby parking lot and got out of the car.


Police could smell a "very strong" odor of alcohol on the driver's breath, the report states. Flores was arrested after performing tests for intoxication. He was booked and scheduled to appear in court on July 28.
