Car Hits Semi, Spills 100 Gallons of Diesel on 167th Street

Traffic was shut down both directions as crews worked to clean up diesel fuel spilled in the collision.

Cleanup continues after a car crashed into a semi on 167th Street, just east of Oak Park Avenue at Normandy Avenue. 

A semi truck headed eastbound on 167th Street was attempting to make a U-turn, when struck by a car around 7 a.m. Wednesday. The car hit the truck's diesel tanks, spilling fuel onto the road, according to officials on the scene. 

Traffic was diverted while crews worked to clean up the fuel, continuing until four hours later. The road reopened just after 11:30 a.m.

No further information was available about the condition of the drivers involved. Stay tuned to Patch as we update this story.
