Police: Woman Robbed at Gunpoint Coming Home Sunday Morning

The gunman reportedly made off with purse and possible bruising to his face.

Police are searching for a hooded man who reportedly robbed a woman of $360 cash at gunpoint over the weekend.

The mugging occurred outside the apartment building of a young woman at 4:45 a.m. Sunday in the 15700 block of Terrace Drive, according to an report. The woman told police she was pushed to the ground while walking into the back of her building.

Turning around, she said, her eyes met a small black gun and she heard a voice say, “Shh, give me everything you got.”

The woman tried to hold onto her Dereon brand purse, which she said she tucked between her legs in a subsequent tug-of-war, police said. The gunman won the struggle, but not before the woman managed to kick him just below his left eye.

The man is described as black, in his 20s, about 5-feet, 11-inches tall and 135 pounds. Police said he wore a black hooded sweatshirt with dark clothing and had “some facial hair." He was seen running northbound across the building's parking lot after the attack.

A dog with the Country Club Hills Police Department tracked the robber to a nearby apartment building in the 5800 block of Corey Lane but lost the scent.

The woman refused medical treatment. Her purse, she told investigators, contained $360 cash, identification cards and keys attached to a long strap with “Chicago Bears” etched into material.
