Police Chief Anderson Selected as Honorary Chair of Event Honoring Martin Luther King, Jr.

Anderson will be one of several Chicago area figures, including Mayor Rahm Emanuel, leading a dinner honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., to be held in January 2012.

Chief Greg Anderson has been named honorary chair of a celebration of the life, work and 83rd birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Anderson will serve as an honorary chair of the Illinois Commission on Diversity and Human Relations’ (ICDHR) 44th Annual King Remembrance and Celebration Dinner, which celebrates the life, work and 83rd birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to be held Jan. 21, 2012.

The ICDHR works with business, religious, government, and community groups to advance a better understanding of their similarities and to foster a sense of togetherness.

“I am privileged to be a part of this very worthwhile event,” Anderson said. “I applaud the commission’s work to carry forth Dr. King’s dream for a more peaceful and tolerant society and aim to lead by example to make a positive impact in the communities where I live and work.”

Anderson joins other Chicago area leaders, including City of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel (grand honorary dinner chair), Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart, Clerk of the Cook County Circuit Court Dorothy Brown, and Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White.
