Police: Charges Approved for 5 Suspects in Tinley Beating

Authorities confirm those held for questioning following Saturday's Ashford House mob attack in Tinley Park have been charged and are expected in court today.

Five people taken into custody Saturday afternoon following what  await a court hearing Monday morning.

The group was initially expected to come before Cook County Associate Judge Terence B. Smith at the 9:30 a.m. call, but representatives from the state's attorney's office confirmed they will instead step before a judge this afternoon.

Tinley Park Police Cmdr. Steve Vaccaro declined to comment on specific charges around 10:10 a.m., but said information would be made public throughout the day.

Charges were approved by the Cook County State's Attorney late Sunday night, he noted, but the names of those who will appear in court were not being released Monday morning.

Authorities have confirmed that 15 to 18 people dressed in black entered Ashford House, 7959 W. 159th St., around 12:45 p.m. Saturday and targeted a specific group for attack. About 10 people were injured, police said. Three were hospitalized while the rest refused to be treated.

Assailants fled in three vehicles, one of which was stopped by police within minutes of leaving. The group Anti-Racist Action has claimed responsibility for the attack on its website, saying its members broke up a meeting of the "White Nationalist Economic Summit."
