Police Blotter: Uninsured Driver Flees Scene of Accident

Oak Forest Police reports, Oct. 17-23

SUNDAY, OCT. 23

Hit and Run

Julius Holtzclaw, Jr., 29, of the 3500 block of West 116th Place in Chicago, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving without insurance, police said. Holtzclaw struck another car making a left turn at the intersection of 159th Street at 6:15 p.m. then left the scene, according to the report. Holtzclaw was apprehended in the 16700 block of Cicero Avenue, police said.

Domestic Battery

Bernard V. Phillips, 29, of the 16000 block of South LeClaire Avenue, was charged with domestic battery, police said. Police were called to the address after an argument turned physical around 6:30 p.m., according to the report. The accuser said Phillips shoved her into a parked vehicle, police said.

Car Window Smashed

A resident in the 4800 block of West 151st Street reported someone smashed the back window of her car some time overnight, police said.

Domestic Battery

Jessica P. Garcia, 28, of the 6000 block of Oakland Avenue in Oak Forest, was charged with domestic battery, police said. The accuser said Garcia punched him in the nose and shoved him around 2 a.m., according to the report.

TUESDAY, OCT. 18

Retail Theft

Loss prevention at Jewel, 5616 159th St., saw two men take several boxes of heartburn medication off a shelf, move to another part of the store, then place the medication into a bag around noon, and leave the store without paying for the items, according to the report.

MONDAY, OCT. 17

Aggravated Assault

Martin Fuentes-Escalena, 51, of the 5000 block of West 159th Street, was charged with aggravated assault and resisting a peace officer, police said. A security guard at an apartment building in the 15800 block of LeClaire Avenue said Fuentes-Escalena had swung a glass bottle towards the guard's head around 9:30 p.m., according to the report. While being handcuffed, Fuentes-Escalena attempted to break free of the arresting officer, police said.

Criminal Damage to Property

A resident in the 5100 block of 159th Street reported the rear window of his trailer had been broken, police said. The resident said he heard neighborhood children playing soccer the night before around 7 p.m. and heard something hit his trailer, according to the report.
