Police Blotter: Underage Drinker Charged in Hit and Run

Oak Forest Police reports, Aug. 29–Sept. 5

MONDAY, SEPT. 5

Vehicle Burglarized

A Willowbrook woman reported that someone broke into her vehicle in the 15900 block of LeClaire Avenue between 7 p.m. and midnight. A purse containing $80 and some were reported missing. Smudged fingerprints were on the car's window, but police were not able to use them, according to the report.

Expired Plates, Drugs and Warrant

Joshua J. White, 23, of the 16100 block of Wood Street in Markham, was arrested on an in-state warrant and was charged with possession of a controlled substance. An officer on patrol saw White driving in the 15200 block of Cicero Avenue before 9 p.m. and noted that White was driving on expired license plates. A name check revealed a warrant out of Midlothian for possession of cannabis. A search found a clear plastic bag containing 4.5 grams of cocaine, according to the report.

Underage Drinking, Hit and Run

Brittany M. Bird, 19, of the 6500 block of Pine Trail in Tinley Park, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving without insurance, and was cited for underage consumption of alcohol. A person called police reporting a reckless driver had backed up and hit a parked car near the intersection of 159th Street and Lockwood Avenue. Officers caught up with Bird at the intersection of 163rd Street and Central Avenue at midnight. The officer determined Bird had been drinking, according to the report. Bird also was issued traffic tickets for the accident and various other traffic offenses.

THURSDAY, SEPT. 1

Criminal Damage Reports

  • A resident in the 4800 block of West 151st Street reported someone broke her living room window and tried to get into the home sometime overnight.
  • A resident in the 4400 block of West Adelle reported that a window had been damaged on Aug. 26 by someone throwing an egg at it.

Domestic Battery

John M. Flanagan, 48, of the 6200 block of West 157th Street in Oak Forest, was charged with domestic battery. Officers were called to the address after the accuser said Flanagan had pushed her, causing an injury to one of her arms around 3:30 p.m.

DUI

Christopher S. Weybright, 48, of the first block of Spyglass Circle in Palos Heights, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. An officer was called to a three-car accident at the intersection of Oak Park Avenue and Oakview Court at 4:30 p.m. One of the other drivers involved had spoken with Weybright and smelled alcohol on his breath, according to the report. Weybright also was issued various tickets for the accident.

TUESDAY, AUG. 30

Burglary and Trespass to Vehicles

A resident in the 14700 block of South Laramie Avenue reported someone had entered the unlocked car and stolen some change in between 9 p.m. on Aug. 29 and 1 a.m. on Aug. 30. Another resident in the same block reported someone had entered her car. Nothing was removed from the car, but it was ransacked, according to the report.

Criminal Damage to Property Reports

  • Keith.A. Kimble, 39, of the 5100 block of West 167th Street in Oak Forest, was charged with criminal damage to property. Police were called to the address at 4:15 p.m. after an argument. During that time, Kimble became violent and punched a door, according to the report.
  • A resident in the 16000 block of Latrobe Avenue reported that someone had cut a phone line between 10 a.m. and 8:45 p.m.
  • A resident in the 16400 block of South Roy Drive reported that someone broke a window on his RV overnight with a landscaping brick taken from the victim's front yard.

Medications Reported Stolen

A resident in the 4800 block of 157th Street reported that a neighbor had stolen some medications around 11:30 p.m. The resident did not wish to file complaints against the neighbor, according to the report.

MONDAY, AUG. 29

Cell Phone Missing

An Oak Lawn resident reported that his cell phone was stolen on Aug. 28. The resident was staying with a friend in the 15800 block of South LeClaire Avenue. The victim said he had fallen asleep but allowed guests to use his phone. When he woke up, the guests and the victim's phone were missing, the report said.
