Police Blotter: Threatening Calls; Break-in at Stop N Go Liquor

MONDAY, SEPT. 19

Stolen Rental Car

A man in the 15900 block of LeClaire Avenue reported to  that his rental car was stolen. The man told police he parked the car at his apartment complex around 11 p.m. Sunday night and noticed it gone at 1:30 a.m. Monday. The man still had the key to the car and there was no broken glass or sign of forced entry near the empty parking space, police said.

Truck Window Shattered

A man pulled into a parking lot around 12:30 a.m. in the 5300 block of 159th Street and noticed someone leaning into a truck through a window and then hurrying away once spotted, police said. The witness, who noticed the driver's side window of the truck was shattered, gave chase but was unable to find the suspicious person, according to the report.

Unlawful Delivery of Alcohol

David S. Regan, 19, of the 15300 block of Pine Drive, was charged with unlawful delivery of alcohol to a minor and misrepresentation of age by a minor. Officers were called to the 7-Eleven store at 14717 Central Ave. after Regan bought alcohol for another teen and a few friends using another ID just before midnight, according to the report.

Six Threatening Phone Calls

A man in the 5100 block of 159th Street told police he received six threatening phone calls from an unknown male around 11:15 p.m. The man who received the calls said he couldn't identify the caller’s voice and the number had come up as unknown. He added that at around 10 p.m., his neighbor noticed a small fire burning in the plants around the neighbor's driveway. No one was seen around the residence, according to the report.

Domestic Battery

Jesus Gutierrez, 41, of the 6600 block of West Forestview Drive, was charged with domestic battery. An officer was called to the address at 8 a.m. after a verbal argument had turned physical, according to the report.

Break-in at Stop N Go

A police officer saw that the glass doors of Stop N Go Liquor, 5214 W. 159th St., had been shattered between 4:45 a.m. and 5 a.m. The officer entered the business and saw numerous bottles of liquor missing from behind the counter and found a pair of white socks left on the floor. No money was taken, according to the report.

THURSDAY, SEPT. 15

Credit Card Stolen

A woman reported that she lost her credit card while in Jewel-Osco, 5616 159th St. The woman called the credit card company and learned her card already had been used at the nearby Jewel Express gas station, according to the report.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 13

Phone Harassment

A resident in the 6300 block of Rio Verde told police she had received several threatening text messages and phone calls between Sept. 5 and Sept. 13.

Theft Reports

  • A resident in the 16900 block of South LeClaire Avenue reported that someone stole numerous medications that were in a bag that had been accidentally left on his front porch. The bag was stolen sometime between 3:30 p.m. Sept. 12 and 8:30 a.m. Sept. 13, according to the report.
  • A resident in the 15300 block of Knox Avenue reported that $220 was stolen from his wallet after he let two people into his apartment around 11 p.m. One of the people had asked to use the washroom and then, after exiting through the master bedroom, said he had to leave, the report said. The resident later noticed the money missing from the wallet, which had been on his dresser, the report said. 

MONDAY, SEPT. 12

Domestic Battery

Wayne G. Heidegger, 48, of the 15100 block of Colina Avenue, was charged with domestic battery and cited for possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia. Officers were called to the address after a woman said Heidegger had pushed her, causing her to hit her back on a table around 8 p.m. During a search, a wooden hitter box and small bag of cannabis were found in Heidegger's pocket, police said.
