Police Blotter: Officer Shot Taser at Woman Charged with Resisting Arrest

Copper Thief Grabs $1,500 Bar
A $1,500 bar of copper, used for grounding the Verizon cell tower at 7041 153rd St., was reported stolen, according to police. The theft happened sometime between June 6 and July 16.

Aggravated Assault and Resisting Arrest Charges for OF Woman
Cassie L. Mendoza, 20, of 5009 W. 159th St. in Oak Forest, was charged with battery, aggravated assault, resisting arrest, underage drinking and disorderly conduct on July 18. Officers were called to a heated argument between neighbors in an apartment complex at 5009 W. 159th. A neighbor had signed a complaint against Mendoza, which officers had tried to deliver to her. After signing the tickets, Mendoza reportedly walked away without taking copies. When police tried to give her the copies, she turned around, yelled at the officer for being in her apartment and allegedly began to take a swing at him. The officer drew his Taser but missed hitting her, striking the wall instead. It took two officers to subdue and arrest her.

Argument Leads to Battery Charges
Jaylenn S. Chambers, 18, of 5017 W. 159th St. No. 27 in Oak Forest was charged with disorderly conduct, underage drinking and two counts of battery on July 23. According to the police report, Chambers was involved in an argument with a neighbor at around 1:25 a.m. Chambers allegedly hit the man involved in the argument in the face, according to a complaint signed by the victim. During booking, Chambers was asked to take a breath test for alcohol but refused. Officers reportedly could smell alcohol on her breath.
