Police Blotter: 'Hello, My Name Is,' Patriotic Port-a-Potty, Pot in the Pants

TUESDAY, MAY 3

Hello, My Name Is...

Donna Chavers, 52, of the 14900 block of Millard in Midlothian, told police she was actually younger Dawn Chavers after an officer pulled her over near 159th Street and Cicero. The picture on the ID she showed the officer, for a Dawn Chavers, 8/29/90, did not match the driver's appearance, according to reports. The driver looked much older, police said. The officer did a search and retrieved a drivers license picture for Donna Chavers, which matched the appearance of the driver.  As she was being arrested and told she was obstructing justice, she apologized for lying to police about her identity, according to reports. Citations were issued for no rear registration light, no valid proof of insurance, and driving while license suspended. She was given a May 23 court date.

Shattered Glass

Someone broke the driver's side of the front window of a woman’s 2010 BMW X5 SUV, in the 15700 block of S. Terrace Drive. The offender used what appeared to be a BB or pellet gun. Damage is estimated at $500.

MONDAY, MAY 2

Pot in his Pants

Police pulled over a car in the 5300 block of 159th Street when its driver changed lanes into the median lane without a  signal, but the passenger had something to show and tell. After the officer smelled cannabis in the car and asked the driver if he had any contraband, the passenger Michael Cook, 21, of the 5400 block of Jamie Lane in Oak Forest, reportedly told police, “I’m not gonna lie, I have a bag of weed in my jock.” The contents of the bag tested positive for 12 grams of cannabis. The driver was issued a traffic citation and Cook was arrested for possession of cannabis. He was released on bond.

SUNDAY, MAY 1

A Bossy 7-Eleven

The east side of the 7-Eleven in the 4900 block of 167th Street has an attitude after someone spraypainted the wall with the word, "Obey" in red paint. 

Unhappy Customer?

A woman told police that someone keyed the entire side of her 2006 white Volkswagen Coupe while it was parked in the John Amico parking lot, block of 15300 S. Cicero. 

Patriotic Port-a-Potty

Someone vandalized Gingerwood Park using blue, red and white spray paint on several items. The items painted included a tank, Port-a-John, field lock box, park bench and Gingerwood Park sign. 

DUI

Kelly A. Thomas, 23, of the 6300 block of Catalina in Oak Forest, was arrested on charges of DUI, DUI over the legal limit, and improper lane usage at West 191st Street and South LaGrange Road in Frankfort.

FRIDAY, APRIL 29

Where's My Wallet?

A woman's wallet went missing after she left it out on the counter of her home, in the 14600 block of Club Circle Court, according to police. She told police she left the wallet out on the counter in the kitchen at 10 a.m., and carried on with tasks inside the home. Her husband was outside doing yard work. The victim said all doors were open, attached garage was open. She went to get her wallet and found it missing. Missing are her wallet, license, Social Security card, medicare card, insurance card, debit card, Discover card and Visa.
