Police Blotter: Drug Deal Leads to Arrest for Possession of Vicodin

FRIDAY, JUNE 15

Codeine Robbery at CVS Pharmacy

A CVS pharmacist told police she saw a man jump over the counter and run out of a store after hearing a bottle fall to the ground in the pharmacy around 9:45 p.m. The pharmacist said a 16 oz. bottle of Promethazine Hydrochloride with Codeine was stolen from the store. The suspect is described as 15 to 18 years old, 5-feet, 5-inches to 6-feet tall, wearing a black ball cap with a red brim, white T-shirt and black jeans.

Loud Flat Tire Lands Man in Trouble

An Oak Forest man seen by police driving with a flat tire was arrested for drunken driving. Steven B. Schmeski, 27, of 6608 W. Forestview Dr. in , was charged with driving under the influence, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without insurance, improper lase use and driving with unsafe equipment, according to a police report.

An officer reported hearing a noise that sounded like a train off in the distance at about 3:45 a.m. while near 159th and Oak Park Avenue, according to the report. A vehicle approached with appeared to be flat tire that was flapping against the wheel well, causing the loud noise. Police stopped the car and allegedly could smell alcohol coming from the driver, Schmeski. An officer asked Schmeski to perform sobriety tests, to which he replied “I’m not doing any tests.” A search of the vehicle uncovered a ziplock bag with a small amount of a green substance that tested positive for cannabis.

THURSDAY, JUNE 21

Vicodin Pills Lead to Possession Charge for Crestwood Man

Thomas R. Corsi, 37, of 14238 Lavergene in Crestwood, was charged with possession of a controlled substance. Police reportedly saw a group of men exchange a white envelope at about 4:12 p.m. near 147th and Central Avenue. When police talked with one of the men, Corsi, he began emptying his pockets. An officer reported a smell of marijuana coming from the envelope, in which police found 14 Vicodin pills. Corsi told police that the took the pills for pain and that he didn’t have a prescription.
