SATURDAY, JULY 28

Thief Pulls Copper Pipe Out From Kitchen Sink

Someone yanked copper piping out from a foreclosed home, causing water to leak out of a crawl space on July 28. According to a police report, police were called at about 6 p.m. on a report of water running out of a foreclosed home. The house was locked with deadbolts and it wasn’t immediately obvious how the robber got inside. The officer found that a section of copper pipe was “forcibly removed” from under the kitchen sink.

Electronics Stolen from OF Home

An “all-in-one” Compaq computer, a 32-inch Phillips TV and a Samsung Droid cell phone were reported missing from a home on June 29 in the 4400 block of Lisa Lane. The victim said she told police that around 6 a.m. she went to get a drink of water and noticed the missing computer. She did not hear any suspicious noises during the night and no signs of forced entry were found.

DUI Arrest for Oak Forest Man

Enrique Sanchez-Huitanda, 35 of 5110 W. 159th St. No. 16, in Oak Forest was charged with driving under the influence, improper lane use, driving without a valid license and driving without proof of insurance. Police stopped Sanchez-Huitanda’s SUV at about 7:13 p.m. on July 30 near a closed building at 15426 Cicero Avenue. One officer reportedly could smell vomit and alcohol on Sanchez-Huitanda’s breath, according to a report. He told police that he had more than six beers. Field tests for sobriety were conducted, after which Sanchez-Huitanda was arrested. He was transported to the Oak Forest Police Department where he was unable to provide a sample for a breath test.

TUESDAY, JULY 31

Midlothian Man Arrested for Drug Possession

Eugene F. Callham, 31, of 15016 Harding Ave., in Midlothian, was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia on July 31. Police noticed a man walk up to the front door of Taps Pub, located at 15427 Cicero Ave., at about 3:49 a.m. and look inside, according to a report. Taps closes at 2 a.m. Police performed an officer safety pat down and allegedly found a large drug pipe and a small bag with a green leafy substance that test positive for cannabis. Callham was issued two citations.
