Police Blotter: Musical Chairs in the Driver's Seat, Suspected Arson

FRIDAY, NOV. 18

Vehicle Theft

Someone stole a woman's 2012 Hyundai Elantra from the parking lot of an apartment building in the 14700 block of Central Avenue. The woman told police her husband recently lost his key to the car. Inside the car, the woman left her ID, a personal check written to her in the amount of $105, and a Garmin GPS.

Musical Driver's Seat

Reginald Black, 25, of the 2200 block of 157th Street in Oak Forest, was charged with failure to yield at an intersection, improper lane usage, and driving on a revoked drivers license. Black cut off a car turning left as he was turning right onto Central Avenue, then shared a lane with the other car. After police pulled Black over, he and the passenger switched seats because Black did not have a valid license, police said.

Case of Arson

Police suspect arson in a fire in a condo complex in the 15800 block of Terrace Drive. A woman told police she heard the attic door in her condo building open, followed by footsteps in the attic. Shortly after, she and her son spotted a fire inside the building and alerted neighbors to the flames. The son pulled the garbage can from the building. Police found burnt notebook paper in the garbage can and a lighter in a nearby trash bin.

TUESDAY, NOV. 15

Missing Ladder

Someone stole a man's 10- to 12-foot, orange ladder from the rear of his house in the 4800 block of 149th Street.
