Police Activity Halts Metra Train in Midlothian

Police were searching for a man with a gun, but determined the report to be unfounded.

Police activity near train tracks in Midlothian temporarily halted service for a train headed to Joliet Monday evening. 

Passengers reported seeing a person wielding a gun, but police have determined the report as unfounded, according to a dispatcher at the Midlothian Police Department.

Train No. 419, scheduled to arrive Joliet at 6:52 p.m., was stopped in the vicinity of Midlothian due to the police activity. The train was stopped for roughly 20 to 25 minutes before resuming service.
