Off-Duty Cop's Sex Hookup Comes to a Bad End

A 49-year-old Oak Forest man who is a police officer in another jurisdiction choked a woman with a belt after a sexual rendezvous gone awry, according to police.

Lorenzo C. Rice, 49, was charged with domestic battery following the Nov. 17 incident in which a woman claimed he choked her after she refused to fulfill a sexual request.

Around 4 p.m. Nov. 17, both Rice and a female friend called police saying they needed assistance at an apartment complex on 159th Street. The duo told officers they occasionally engage in consensual sex, according to the report. That day, Rice invited the woman to his apartment for some sex play.

During the act, however, Rice made a special request of the woman. After initially complying, she grew uncomfortable and put an end to the tryst, she told police, and that led to an argument.

The accuser told police she tried to leave but Rice placed a belt around her neck, choked her and stopped her. She said she broke free from the belt, grabbed a video game controller and threw it across the apartment, which allowed her to escape. She then called police.

Officers spoke with Rice, who identified himself as an off-duty police officer. The report did not state what agency Rice works for, but sources indicate he's a public safety officer in the Cook County hospital system and works at Oak Forest Hospital. Rice said his accuser has been harassing him for the past few months and that he has told multiple people about it.

In Rice's version of the event, however, he tells police the woman came to his apartment and they began arguing, at which time he asked her to leave, and she refused. Rice said the woman began yelling and throwing things about his apartment, before he threatened to call the police, prompting her to say she was going to do the same.

Police allowed Rice to change out of his pajamas before placing him under arrest and taking him to the Oak Forest Police Station.

At the station, Rice's personal items were taken into inventory, including a black belt that matched a description given by his accuser. Rice was then processed and released, and the woman was told how she could obtain an order of protection.
