Oak Forest Woman Accused of Running Red Light in Crash: Police

A woman was hospitalized with a fracture and burns Wednesday after the collision at 159th Street and Laramie Avenue.

An Oak Forest woman was cited for multiple traffic violations after a crash Wednesday that sent another woman to the hospital.

Juana Tecaxco-Meyo, 35, of the 5100 block of 159th Street, was cited for running a red light, driving without a license and failing to secure a child under the age of 8, according to Oak Forest police.

Another Oak Forest woman, Julie Bravo, was extricated from a car after the green sedan she was driving collided with a white Cadillac SUV driven by Tecaxco-Meyo at about 2:15 p.m. at the intersection of 159th Street and Laramie Avenue. Bravo was treated at South Suburban Hospital for a fractured thumb and airbag burns.

An Oak Forest officer learned that Tecaxco-Meyo did not have license shortly after arriving at the crash scene, police said. She was arrested and taken to the Oak Forest Police Department, where she received the citations.

Tecaxco-Meyo is due July 17 in Bridgeview court.

Firefighters and paramedics were able to remove the trapped women after about 20 minutes, according to witness accounts of the crash.
