UPDATED: Police Arrest Suspect in Oak Forest, Markham Shootings

Oak Forest authorities say 32-year-old Terrell Randall shot two Markham women. He was caught in Lansing, according to police.

UPDATED, 5:22 p.m.

The man who police believe was responsible for shooting two women early this morning in Oak Forest and Markham has been apprehended, said Oak Forest Police Det. Bob Frias.

Terrell Randall, 32, was arrested without incident and with the assistance of the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force and South Suburban Emergency Response Team. He is in the custody of Oak Forest police. The case is currently under investigation, and charges are pending, Frias said.

----------------------------------------

are searching for a man they said shot two Markham women, leaving one in in critical condition.

Randall, 32, of an unknown address, is believed to be armed and dangerous, and driving a 1999 beige Chevrolet Malibu with the Illinois license plate A174244, according to a statement from authorities Friday.

Police are asking for the public's help in finding Randall, but they warn that Randall should not be approached. Anyone with information about the location of Randall or his vehicle should call 911.

Police say early Friday morning, officers responded to the 15400 block of Cicero Avenue to reports of a 28-year-old woman on the ground. Upon arrival, officers determined that the victim had been shot and was in serious condition, the release stated.

The victim was conscious and able to identify her attacker before she was transported to Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, where she underwent surgery and is in critical condition.

An investigation revealed Terrell Randall was the shooter, police say.

Later, around 4:30 a.m. Friday, another female was shot in Markham, and authorities identified Randall as the shooter in that incident as well.

Randall has four previous convictions for weapon offenses and five convictions for dangerous drugs, according to police. He was released on parole in May, authorities said, after being in custody for two years.

“I am outraged that such a dangerous felon would be released from prison after serving only a short period of time with the Department of Corrections," Oak Forest Police Chief Greg Anderson said. "These shootings could have been prevented if dangerous criminals such as Randall would have served more of their sentence.”

For more details or to provide police with information on Randall's whereabouts, people should call the Oak Forest Police Department at 708-687-1376 or the Markham Police Department at 708-331-2171.

I hope authorities investigate him for the Lane Bryant Shootings because the first time I seen him, that was the first thing that came to mind.He apparently has no problem using a gun on women and has a striking resemblence to the killer.

Guys, just remember that gun control means using both hands and hitting what you aim at!

I don't think the lane bryant killer and this assailant look alike, but sketches are always off. But the horrificness of the crimes feel similar. here is a pic of the lane bryant killer http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=news/local&id=6197051

And who died and made you the self appointed censor? You would be screaming your A** off if someone came along and decided to censor / delete something you wrote that they didn't like or thought was inappropriate. I didn't read what he posted however, the readers here are intelligent enough to know better and they would have surely given him grief for inappropriate comments! You have a BA in Journalism You of all people should know about censorship!
OLY August 29, 2011 at 12:35 AM
It was racial and inappropriate for this public forum. I have to agree with the editors duty to pull the statement. After all that's what it means to EDIT!!!!!

To David B. and, for that matter, All Other Users -- While Bridgette used her personal judgment on the call to remove the comment, she did so in the interest of the entire Patch concept, and with the backing of our Terms of Use. If you haven't read them. let me refresh your memory, specifically on THIS issue: **We understand that everyone has different opinions, but Patch will make the sole determination as to whether Content is acceptable for the Service. (Someone has to be in charge, right?) Without limitation, you agree that you will not post or transmit to other users anything that contains Content that:** -- is threatening, harassing or that promotes racism, bigotry, hatred or physical harm of any kind against any group or individual. I cannot stress enough how important it is that users read these terms, and follow them as the Golden Rules of participating on Patch. They were designed for a purpose—to keep Patch a respectful, thought-provoking and positive place for residents of a community to interact with each other and learn about their hometown. Your Patch editors are keeping a watchful eye on the comments, and we will act if we feel necessary, and in this case, Bridgette did. I stand behind her decision. I am proud to live in a community in which we can all get together and shun what is wrong and fight for what is right. We live in a diverse community and that is part of the reason that makes it such a wonderful place to live. This loser that committed such a heinous crime should pay forever for those crimes. However, I agree with Patch editors that we have to be reasonable and not label out an entire group of people for the actions of one. Not only is it not fair, but it really sends a wrong message to people outside our community. We want people to move into Oak Forest thinking that it is a family town, yet a family town that does not put up with lowlives and criminals. We are not going to be one of those communities that sees crime happen but does not call police. If we turn into a community that shuns diversity because of fear of criminal element we will be sending a message to people that outsiders are not welcome in Oak Forest. Well, we need outsiders. We have many vacant homes that need good, working families that want the same dreams that we do. We need people that want a good family town for their kids to enjoy their youth, get a quality education and grow up safe. If we send the wrong message, we will not attract those decent people. Those decent folks don't want to be part of a community that shuns other good people. We will end up only attracting a lower class of people that could care less about what it means to be a community.

We are the people of Oak Forest. We take care of our own.
