Oak Forest Officer in 'Serious to Critical' Condition After Crash

The officer was taken to Christ Hospital, where he is listed in serious to critical condition.

An Oak Forest police officer was responding to a call at 160th and Cicero Avenue, when another driver struck his car on the driver's side.

Officer Jim Morrissy, 63, suffered serious injuries in the accident around 2:15 p.m. Monday, said Sgt. Bill Busse. Morrissy was taken to Christ Hospital, where he is in "serious to critical" condition. It's possible he could undergo surgery today, Busse said.

Morrissy was struck as he was turning, police said. The act did not appear deliberate, Busse said, and there are no charges pending against the other driver, who was uninjured.
