Oak Forest Man Wanted for Arson in New Lenox Fire

The Will County Sheriff's Office has issued a warrant for the arrest of Brandon Boltz, 26, of Oak Forest, in connection with a March 31 fire.

Police are searching for an Oak Forest man accused of setting a fire at a New Lenox rental property he was evicted from, according to the Will County Sheriff's Office.

Brandon Boltz, 26, of the 5800 block of Corey Lane, is wanted for arson, stemming from a March 31 house fire.

An investigation by a state fire marshal determined an accelerant was used to fuel a blaze in the 15000 block of West Maple Road in New Lenox, authorities said.

Boltz was evicted from the New Lenox rental property in July 2012, according to Will County Sheriff's records. The eviction case was resolved in October of that same year.

The landlord told police he spotted Boltz near the house, who claimed he was looking for someone, said sheriff's spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer. Shortly after the conversation, smoke was seen pouring out of the house. The fire caused "moderate to heavy" damage, Hoffmeyer added.

The warrant for Boltz's arrest was issued on Wednesday, and bail has been set at $250,000.

In 2008, Boltz was held in Will County Jail on an outstanding failure-to-appear warrant, according to sheriff's office records.
