Oak Forest Cops Nab Suspects in String of Car Burglaries

The suspects were not from the area, and were targeting unlocked cars.

Oak Forest police last week arrested several suspects in a string of car burglaries in the area.

The burglaries started around 4 a.m. July 18, in the 15500 block of Long Avenue and the 15600 block of Lockwood. Neighbors spotted men dressed in dark clothing, walking along the street and alerted police. Within the hour, authorities spotted two suspects matching the description and a footchase ensued, leading to their arrest, police said.

Alfredo A. Meza, 19, of the 200 block of Village Creek Drive in Lake in the Hills, was charged with two counts of burglary. Nicholas A. Sanfilippo, 20, of Huntley, was charged with one count of burglary.

Stolen were a bass guitar, a box of cymbals, a laptop, a Kindle, among other items. All were recovered and returned to owners.
