Manhattan Man 'Behaved Randomly' During Arrest: Police

The 28-year-old driver's mood switched from sleepy to polite to argumentative while in custody June 20, after being charged with DUI and other offenses, Oak Forest police report.

Kevin P. Pfingston, 28, of the 25100 block of Blackthorne Avenue in Manhattan, was charged with driving under the influence, speeding, making an improper turn and driving without insurance, according to an Oak Forest police report.

An officer was watching traffic on June 20 in the 4800 block of 151st Street when a car was spotted traveling at about 45 mph in a 20 mph zone and appeared to be speeding up, the report states. The same car then made two wide turns, leaving the roadway for a moment, before police performed a traffic stop near the intersection of 151st Street and Cicero Avenue.

Pfingston, the driver, said he had come from a bar and was headed home in Calumet City, according to the report. The officer told Pfingston he was headed the wrong way if his destination was Calumet City.

Pfingston refused to take field sobriety tests, the report states. He was arrested at about 7:10 p.m. and taken to the Oak Forest Police Department. While in custody, Pfingston "behaved randomly," at times acting sleepy, polite, cocky, argumentative and cooperative, according to police. At one point, he fell and had to have paramedics examine him but refused to be taken to a hospital, the report states.

Pfingston was due on July 30 in Bridgeview court.
