Where's My Bike?

Police responded to a call from the Midlothian Public Library about a report of a stolen bicycle. At the library, police spoke with the victim, who said that they placed the bike in a the bike rack at noon.

The victim told police the bike was unlocked when it was placed in the rack. When the victim returned to the bike rack at 3:56 p.m., the bike was gone.

The victim said they did not have any enemies and that they did not know who would have taken the bike.

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 7

Messed Up Mailbox

While on patrol, officers noted a home in the 14700 block of S. Long Avenue had a damaged mailbox. Officers made contact with the owner, who said that they didn't know who damaged the mailbox.

Officers noted that it appeared the suspect(s) hit the mailbox with an unknown object, causing the box to detach from the post.

The victim said they would check their security cameras and that if a photo of the suspect was found, they would turn it into police.

FRIDAY, NOV. 2

Resisting a Cop, You Get Tased for That

Mannuel Estrada, 20, of the 14400 block of S. Shermon Avenue, Posen, was charged with resisting a peace officer, following an incident in the 4400 block of W. 147th Street.

Officers stopped Estrada after they saw him driving with his bright lights on and then nearly hitting a police car while trying to make a turn. During the stop, officers asked Estrada to exit the vehicle, which he refused.

Officers attempted to pull Estrada from the vehicle, when he lunged to the passenger's side of the vehicle and forced officers to forcibly remove him. Once he was out of the car, officers ordered Estrada to the ground, which he refused.

Officers forced Estrada to the ground, where he refused to comply with orders to place his hands behind his back. Officers warned him that he would be tased for non-compliance, but he continued to refuse. Estrada was then tased by officers, which gained his compliance.

During the struggle, one officer received a laceration to his right eyebrow.

Estrada was transported to the Midlothian Police Department, where it was found that he had provided false information to the Secretary of State's office to obtain a driver's license. Officers charged him with resisting a peace officer and submitted paper work to the Secretary of State's office to correct the false information.

Estrada was released and scheduled to appear in the Markham Courthouse on Dec. 6.
