Man Hides Steak in Pants: Blotter

Oak Forest police reports, March 18-23 • DUI charge for Park Forest driver • Hit and run, literally • Radio snatched from car • Machine parts go missing.

SATURDAY, MARCH 23

DUI Charge For Park Forest Driver

Pamela A. Stewart-Myles, 53, of the 100 block of Dogwood in Park Forest, was charged with driving under the influence and improper lane use, according to a report. Police saw a Silver Ford Escape at about 10:55 a.m. swerving in the 16700 block of Cicero Avenue.

An officer reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath. She was asked to perform field sobriety tests, after which she was arrested.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 20

Hit and Run, Literally

A man was struck in the back of the neck while checking the mail, according to a report. The victim told police that two men were running away from him after he was hit and fell to the ground at about 9:05 p.m. He lives in the 5000 block of West 159th Street.

Car Burglarized, Radio Taken

A $400 Kenwood radio was removed from a car parked in the 15800 block of Lavergne Avenue, according to a report.

The victim believes the burglary happened sometime between 7 p.m. on March 19 and 8:30 a.m. March 20. The radio was recently installed. The victim told police he had left the car unlocked and parked in the driveway.

MONDAY, MARCH 18

Machine Parts Go Missing

Machine parts, valued between $3,000 and $5,000, were reported stolen from a truck in the 5800 block of Colina, according to a report. Someone broke into the house and took boxes of both new and used parts.

There were no signs of force entry and police found the vehicle was unlocked.

Man Hides Steak in Pants

James S. Speights, 56, of the 2300 block of West 157th Street in Markham, was charged with retail theft and driving with a revoked license, according to a report. He is accused of taking four packages of steak, valued at $37.39, from Jewel-Osco, 5616 159th St.

Witnesses allege Speights grabbed the packages from the meat cooler, hid them in his pants and walked out of the grocery store.
