Kids Really Can't Buy Them Here

Which Oak Forest businesses stick to the rules when it comes to tobacco sales to minors?

recently wrapped up its tobacco sale compliance survey of 23 businesses in Oak Forest. During “Kids Can’t Buy Them Here," police made the rounds to each of the businesses, concluding Feb. 25. 

All of the businesses stuck to the rules regarding tobacco sales. None sold to youths under the age of 18.

The following business and clerks are to be commended for taking a proactive approach in identifying minors under the age of 18 by not selling tobacco products to them:

  • Eddy’s Liquor & Tobacco,
  • Shell Gas Station,
  • Marathon Gas Station, 
  • Convenient Food Mart,
  • 7-11 (Central Ave.),
  • Foremost Liquors,
  • Phillips 66 Gas Station,
  • Blarney Stone Pub,
  • Stop & Go Food Mart,
  • Beggars Pizza,
  • BP Amoco Gas Station,
  • Food 4 Less,
  • Swagat Foods,
  • Walgreens,
  • Citgo Gas Station,
  • 7-11—167th St.,
  • CVS Pharmacy,
  • Rose Liquors,
  • Taps Pub, 
  • Mobile Gas Station.

Tobacco compliance surveys are funded through a grant from the Illinois Liquor Control Commission. Each retailer who is found in violation of the survey could have been cited with a Local Ordinance Citation which can carry a fine of $200.00 up to $500.00.
