Kids Can't Buy Them Here—Or Can They?

Oak Forest Police recently conducted checks of 22 businesses within Oak Forest city limits, to determine which sticks to rules on tobacco sales to minors.

recently wrapped up its tobacco sale compliance survey of 22 businesses in Oak Forest. During “Kids Can’t Buy Them Here," police surveys various retailers within limits, wrapping up Thursday, Nov. 17.

Of the businesses surveyed, one was discovered to be in violation of tobacco sales laws, according to a press release issued by the department:

  • Mobile Gas Station, 14701 S. Central Ave.

Each retailer who was found in violation of the ordinances was charged with a fine ranging from $200–$500. Representatives from the department remind citizens that all charges are merely accusations and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The department commends the other 21 busineses surveyed for their compliance with local tobacco ordinances:

  • Beggars Pizza, BP Amoco Gas Station,
  • Food 4 Less,
  • Swagat Foods, Walgreens,
  • Citgo Gas Station, 7-11—167th St.,
  • CVS Pharmacy,
  • Rose Liquors,
  • Taps Pub,
  • Blarney Stone Pub
