Handgun Stolen from Home: Oak Forest Police Blotter

Oak Forest police reports, Nov. 18–21.


Television Stolen, Drawers Rifled Through

Police were called to a home in the 6000 block of Brookwood Drive, after a resident discovered their home burglarized. At the scene police spoke with the resident, who said they left the home at 3 p.m. Nov. 20 and returned just after midnight Nov. 21.

The resident said that an unknown suspect(s) broke into the home and removed a 53-inch Samsung flat screen television and went through several drawers in the home.

The victim said that the front door was cracked and damaged due to being forced open and the back sliding glass door was left open as well.


Another Car Broken Into

Police were called to the 6400 block of Nature Drive, after a resident found their car broken into. At the scene, police spoke with the victim, who said the car was locked and alarmed at the time of the theft.

The victim said they left the car overnight in their aparment complex parking lot and when they returned to the car in the morning, they found the passenger's side window smashed in and her purse missing. The contents of the purse were found laying on the ground, next to the car.

The victim said the purse was worth $150 and contained a $50 wallet, several credit cards and medical insurance cards, which were all missing.

Handgun Taken From Home

A victim in the 16100 block of Forest Avenue told police that sometime between Nov. 9 and Nov. 20, an unknown person(s) removed a handgun from their home. The victim told officers that the gun was kept near his computer, which had recently been repaired by a cable provider.

The victim also told officers that a private contractor occasionally uses the computer. The victim said the gun was in a holster when it was stored and that only the holster was there when the victim went to retrieve the gun.

The gun is the property of the Village of Posen.

Resident's Car Window Smashed

A victim in the 5100 block of 158th Street told police that sometime between 10:30 p.m. Nov. 19 and 7:12 a.m. Nov 20, that an unknown suspect(s) broke the rear driver's side window of their vehicle. The victim told officers that nothing appeared to be taken from the car.


Somebody Broke My Mirror

Police were notified by a victim in the 5500 block of Ann Marie Lane, that sometime between 7 p.m. Nov. 17, and 10 a.m. Nov. 18, an unknown person(s) damaged their car. The victim said that they left the car parked in the street in front of their home over night, and while driving the car down Central Avenue on Nov. 18, the passenger side mirror fell off the car.

The victim said that it would cost about $500 to fix the damage.

What if these thieves break into my car and steal my seatbelt? Come on guys...spend your time patrolling the neighborhood....your flashlights are more valueable to catch criminals breaking into cars and houses vs. drivers not wearing seatbelts
