Honor Thy Father and Mother

Residents in the 15400 block of Hickory Lane called police due to a domestic disturbance. The family told responding officers that their son was pushing his mother and father, after arguing over using his brother's laptop. The parents told the police their son, John R. Simester, 24, then stormed out of the home, with the mother locking the door behind him. Simester then began pounding on the door of the home, breaking the glass and screen of the front door.

He then left carrying a baseball bat, and walked to the parking lot at Fierke School, where a witness told police they saw a subject matching Simester's description heading, but could not verify where the subject was going.

What's My Name Again?

Police stopped Ruth M. Diaz, 27, of the 14100 block of Western Avenue, Blue Island, after clocking her at 43 mph in a 25 mph zone on Central Avenue. During the stop, Diaz told officers her name was Mirella Diaz and that she had no identification on her. Diaz was taken to the Oak Forest Police Department, where fingerprinting proved her real identity.

Diaz was charged with obstructing a police officer, speeding, no insurance and driving while suspended. She was released on bond and scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 12.
