Duo Gets Tough Against Wannabe Bandits in Foiled Robbery: Police

A 20-year-old Oak Forest man and 21-year-old Midlothian woman scared off two men who demanded cash on July 26, according to Oak Forest police.

A man and a woman taking a stroll on an Oak Forest street were ordered to hand over their cash by two wannabe robbers, police said.

The pair were approached by two men wearing hoodies at about at about 10:30 p.m. on July 26 in the 15100 block of Long Avenue, Oak Forest police said.

The 20-year-old Oak Forest man and 21-year-old Midlothian woman told cops they weren't able to see their faces under the hoods.

The men demanded money without brandishing a gun or knife, according to the victim's account. Their targets did not have any cash on them and took up "defensive stances," apparently readying for an attack.

Both men in hoodies backed down and ran northbound on Long Avenue, police said.

Oak Forest officers searched the area but did not find the men.

The would-be robbers are described as black males between 5-foot, 8-inches and 5-foot, 10-inches tall and between 160 and 180 pounds. One man wore a red hoodie while the other donned a black hoodie.
