Driver Suffers Balance Problems During Traffic Stop

A 27-year-old Posen man faced DUI charges after a June 3 traffic stop, according to a Midlothian police report.

Michael R. Vazquez, 27, of the 14300 block of South Blaine Avenue in Posen, was charged June 3 with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.08 and speeding, according to a Midlothian Police report.

Cops pulled over Vazquez at about 12:12 a.m. in the 100 block of South Clifton Park Avenue after his truck was stopped rapidly accelerating and speeding from the stop light, the report stated.

An officer noted that the driver, Vazquez, was having a hard time keeping his balance while in the truck and swayed while talking with police, the report stated.

Vazquez had bloodshot eyes and a strong smell of alcohol on his breath, according to the report. He was asked to perform field sobriety tests but refused.

Police arrested Vazquez and took him to the Midlothian Police Department for booking, the report stated. He took a breath test and reportedly blew a 0.228, the report continued.

Vazequz was released and is due on June 20 in Markham court.
