Deceased Wife's Jewelry Box Stolen: Police Blotter

Oak Forest police reports, Aug. 31-Sept.2.

MONDAY, SEPT. 3

More Than $2,200 in Electronics Stolen

A victim in the 5000 block of 155th Street reported a home burglary to police. The victim said that sometime between noon and 10:43 p.m., an unknown person(s) enter the home through an open window and removed an iPad 2, a keyboard and a Macbook Pro, valued at approximaly $2,200. The victim did not notice anything else missing from the scene.

The matter was forwarded to investigations.

SUNDAY, SEPT. 2

Suspects Take Deceased Wife's Jewelry

A victim in the 16400 block of Brenden Lane notified police that some time between noon and 1:30 p.m. somebody had broken into their home, taking a box of jewelry, which belonged to the victim's wife, who passed away more than 30 years ago.

A neighbor to the victim said that around the time of the incident, he saw one young black male standing at the end of the victim's driveway, looking both directions. He added that he saw a second black male walking quickly from the side of the victim's house a short time later. The witness said he was unsure if the subjects were carrying any items.

Car Burglarized at Oak Forest Fitness Center

Police responded to a report of a car being broken into at the Oak Forest Fitness Center, during the Old Times Family Picnic, between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The victims said that after returning to the car, they noticed the rear passenger window of their car was smashed in and a tan purse was missing from the car. The victims said that the purse contained a set of house keys and a drivers license, although there was no cash or credit cards in the purse.

Police are investigating the matter.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 1

3 vs. 1? That's Not Fair

Police responded to a battery call in the 15300 block of Cicero Avenue after a victim contacted officers from the Phillips Gas Station at 153rd Street and Cicero. The victim said told police that three hispanic males approached him, began striking him on the head and then ran off in an unknown direction. Police noted that the victim was intoxicated at the time of the report.

FRIDAY, AUG. 31

Drunk and Speeding, Police Notice That Sort of Thing

Police arrested Matthew Lee Goodman, of the 2300 block of 10000 North Street, Manteno, for driving under the influence after stopping him in the 16200 block of S. Cicero Ave. Police stopped Goodman after clocking him at 52 mph in a 25 mph zone. During the stop, officers noticed an open Coors Lite can sitting in the cupholder of his car, which his passenger claimed.

Goodman submitted to standard field sobriety tests, which he could not complete and was taken into custody.

Goodman was taken to the Oak Forest Police Department, where he was charged with DUI-Alcohol, no insurance, speeding over posted limit and violation of vehicle impound. He is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 12.

Burglary Takes Pennies on the Dollar

Police responded to a call about a burlgary in the 15900 block of Grove Avenue at 8:55 a.m. At the home, police spoke with the victim who told officers somebody had pushed or kicked in a side door to gain entrance to their home. Inside, the offender(s) took numerous items of jewelry, a coin jar, a lap top computer, a digital camera and a backpack.

Police secured the scene and forwarded the matter to investigations.
